March 2004 Meeting
Date: Sunday, March 14, 2004 (second Sunday)
Time: 6:00 PM
Place: Room 120
Volpe Center* (Formerly National Transportation Systems Center)
55 Broadway, Cambridge, MA
Featured Guest(s): Brigitte Carr, Robert Miller
Topic: Boston Symphony Orchestra Archives
Bridget Carr, Boston Symphony Orchestra's Archivist, and Robert Miller, BAS member, and 6 year volunteer
in the BSO Archives, will be presenting an overview of the archive and a review of the extensive materials maintained for the BSO, Boston Pops, Symphony
Hall and Tanglewood. Near and dear to our hearts, they will be discussing the extensive broadcasting tape archive, going back to the 1950s, and the
restoration processes for the more than 7,000 reel-to-reel tapes.
Bridget's background includes an MLS (Masters in Library Science) and positions at MIT and the Massachusetts State Archives.
She is an active member of the New England Archivists and the Society of American Archivists.
They will show and play samples of historic material and we will be leaving plenty of time for Q&A, so bring your
questions and any BSO trivia that you want verified.
