The SMPTE/New England Section is extremely pleased to bring you this special Saturday morning technical presentation and film screening at the new Jordan's Furniture Comcast IMAX 3-D Theater in Reading, MA. Members of the BAS, AES, guests and friends are invited. There is a $10 fee which must be mailed in by September 9th.

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience IMAX technology at its best. Not only will you learn about the history and technology behind the company synonymous with the large screen experience but, you'll actually get to see the very latest IMAX creation produced utilizing many of the technologies discussed during the technical presentation.

The IMAX film will be the new "Walking on the Moon 3D" feature. Further information about this film can found here: http://www.imax.com/magnificentdesolation/

Brian will begin his presentation by taking us back in time to how IMAX began more than 30 years ago and finish with their most recent achievements--from the first IMAX® projector made with the help of a miniature bicycle chain to a later prototype built by Ron Jones and made to work at 18 frames/sec using a vacuum cleaner and an orange juice can, to IMAX's current technical achievements and introduction of IMAX® MPX, a new, lower cost projection system that can easily be retrofitted into an existing multiplex setting.

You'll also learn about the revolutionary IMAX DMR® digital remastering software, which allows movie-goers to experience the larger-than-life adventure, drama and emotion of their favorite Hollywood films in IMAX theatres. To date, these films include Apollo 13, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Spider-Man 2.

Attendees to this special SMPTE/New England event will need to purchase a ticket in advance. The cost per person for admission and all the coffee, juice, pastry, and donuts you can eat is our everyday low, low price of ten dollars ($10.00).
