The January meeting of the BAS will feature the annual
"CES Report" by members in attendance at the 2008 Consumer Electronics
Show in Las Vegas. The CES Report is one of our most popular meetings of
the year. Anticipated Show attendees are Alvin Foster, David Weinberg, Steve
Owades, Steve Hluchan, Wally Swanbon, BJ Tanner, and others. The attendees
will report on what's new and interesting at the 2nd largest electronics
show in the world. There is more info about the CES show here: www.cesweb.org
.
We will also have more CDs available from Ira Leonard's
collection.
During Open Forum, three items will be discussed and
a consensus taken. Alvin Foster will present several suggestions for discussion:
(1) Broadcast the January 20, 2008 meeting
in a live-streaming format. The broadcast will be accessible via the BAS
website. If the consensus is to permit the January 20 live-streaming broadcast,
the balance of the meeting will be viewable here: CLICK
HERE !
(2) Alvin Foster will propose that some
resemblance of Shop Talk be made available on our website. He suggest that
persons interested in conducting a perhaps weekly, voice-only talk show
form a committee to determine show parameters, options, etc. (Alvin Foster
will carry along a recorder to CES 2008 in an effort to interview interesting
audio/video guests to be potentially broadcast on our website.)
(3) Alvin Foster will suggest that quality
articles be published on our website. Most of the articles could be republished
in a more edited form later in the BAS journal. A committee should be
formed to establish guidelines for article acceptance: quality, length,
etc.
