BOSTON AUDIO SOCIETY
Meeting Notice for November 2013

Date: Sunday, November 24, 6:00 PM
Place: Boston University, Life Science & Engineering Bldg, 24 Cummington St.
Room: 103, Boston, MA 02215
Featured Guest: John S. Allen: recording illustrated lectures; audio, video and PowerPoint

John S. Allen will show how to produce high-quality video of a lecture demonstration at a moderate investment in time and money — and the meeting itself will demonstrate: synchronizing of audio and video tracks on separate devices; timing of a PowerPoint presentation to synchronize with camera video; camera technique, mixing and editing. Software includes Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student edition ($100-$140) Quicktime Pro ($30), AVS4You video converter ($100), Audacity (freeware); VirtualDub (freeware) and Pinnacle Studio 16 (about $100.) Equipment: Canon RF300 HD video camera (about $300); laptop computer at the meeting ($500 or so); tower computer for editing (about $1500 with dual monitors) -- and maybe your own smartphones for supplemental audio recording!

If you have anything to sell cheap bring it along. This is not our annual White Elephant Sale, but most future meetings will include the option to buy and sell audio/video paraphernalia.

Refreshments will be served at 5:30 PM.
