Featured Guest: John S. Allen: recording illustrated lectures;
audio, video and PowerPoint
John S. Allen will show how to produce high-quality
video of a lecture demonstration at a moderate investment in time
and money and the meeting itself will demonstrate: synchronizing
of audio and video tracks on separate devices; timing of a PowerPoint
presentation to synchronize with camera video; camera technique,
mixing and editing. Software includes Microsoft Office 2010 Home
and Student edition ($100-$140) Quicktime Pro ($30), AVS4You video
converter ($100), Audacity (freeware); VirtualDub (freeware) and
Pinnacle Studio 16 (about $100.) Equipment: Canon RF300 HD video
camera (about $300); laptop computer at the meeting ($500 or so);
tower computer for editing (about $1500 with dual monitors) --
and maybe your own smartphones for supplemental audio recording!
If you have anything to sell cheap bring it
along. This is not our annual White Elephant Sale, but most future
meetings will include the option to buy and sell audio/video paraphernalia.
