Subject: Designing a
Near Perfect Loudspeaker
Steve has been designing speakers
since he was 19. His newest design is a culmination
of 50 years of research and speaker design. It is
two-way speaker boasting a ribbon tweeter and a
7-inch full range semi-woofer. The crossover is
phase coherent. In his home the new speaker replaced
a modified AR3a and a pair of Quad ESL 63. His wife,
a pianist, stated that the replacement speaker is
more acoustically accurate. Members are encouraged
to bring along a favorite CD for listening.
Steve Hluchan has a background
in the Materials Science and International Business.
He was in Senior Management at Pfizer and served
as President and on the boards of many high quality,
audio companies - Sausalito, Platinum Audio, Red
Rose Music (Mark Levinson), and Fried Products.
In addition, he specialized in Calcium Metal. Steves
book is entitled Calcium and Calcium Alloys. He
has a MBA from Harvard, a BA in Physics from UC
Riverside, and he completed two years Graduate Studies
in Quantum Mechanics at MIT.
Refreshments will be available
at 5:30 PM
We need your
help:
Due to new room charges and
policies the BAS no longer has a meeting room at
Boston University. Members of the society would
like to hear from you regarding a new location for
our meetings - office space, available libraries,
or homes are great alternatives. Please contact
David Hadaway with suggestions.
