Topic/Activity: Building an Ideal Listening Room from Scratch

Our December meeting will be hosted by a long-time BAS member and audio writer, Tom Perazella. He used a privilege that few audiophiles have been able to implement. Years before he finished his new home, he designed a listening room taking acoustics and speaker placement into account. Into that room he positioned his custom built “egg” speakers and distributed subs. They were driven by four stereo amplifiers and digital DSP using the new Danville dspNexus 2/8. The information on the speakers, room acoustic treatments and distributed subs have all been published in various issues of audioXpress magazine.  The primary music source for the in-house music files and streaming is the Roon Nucleus Plus.  Tom will use a PowerPoint presentation to describe the philosophy that led him on this path. If desired, he can also go into some of the more difficult challenges of this approach including having all equipment except the speakers located on an equipment rack in the basement under the listening room.
