BAS Message
February 2016

1. V34N4 of the BASS has been published. It features our trip to the Boston Symphony archives with Bridget Carr presenting, written by John S. Allen. Also reports on CEDIA and AES and others by David Weinberg, Kenneth Wacks and Jim Buchanan.

2. “This year buy a TV that's really better” by Geoffrey Fowler discusses high dynamic range or HDR TV. He says there's finally a TV technology that's instantly obvious to the naked eye. It has a brighter picture (10 times the output) for a wider range from dark to white. Also the color rendition has been improved. It doesn't take much more bandwidth to transmit to your home. Samsung has announced a player for both 4K and HDR.WSJ 11Nv15
