I will be doing a BAS ZOOM meeting presentation on June 9 at 5 PM Eastern time. I will be talking primarily about the mixes I have been doing for Ben Zander’s orchestras and their concerts at Symphony Hall. A Short Biography of John Allen: John has been involved in sound reinforcement and reproduction since the 1970's. In 1976 he designed and installed sound reinforcement for the Boston Esplanade and received a Presidential commendation for it. In 1980 he developed the first digital ready sound system for theaters. The computer designed system increased theater attendance by 25% in the first year. John was named sound director for the Boston Ballet in 1988. Noted for the "best orchestra sound in ballet", He is proud of the fact that after 45 years, no HPS-4000® theater has canceled a show due to a speaker failure. John Allen is a native of Newton, Massachusetts. He is a 1973 graduate of Northeastern University, where he attended both the engineering and business colleges.
One of his High Performance Stereo systems sustained a Boston Esplanade audience of over 400,000, and was listed in the “Guiness Book of Records” as the largest in concert music history.
A member of the Boston Audio Society, a lifetime member of both the Audio Engineering Society and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.
