In Don Lindich's syndicated column, Sound Advice, a reader asks about 240 Hz refresh rate, saying it has to be special ordered. He replies that faster scanning is not necessary to get proper motion rendition Many TVs scan at 60 Hz and perfectly display moving objects. Faster rates require a lot of processing and can open up a can of worms. TVs costing $3000 to 5000 are displaying total garbage, giving him a headache on fast moving scenes. He thinks manufacturers should be ashamed of marketing these TVs. Union Leader July 2015
